Three reasons you should add a blog to your company's website (and a workbook to help you get started)

No matter what industry you operate within, you must dedicate some time to improving your online presence. A strong online presence means your brand appears more credible and trustworthy, and that you are top-of-mind when a potential customer is looking for the product or service you offer.

There are many different ways to build upon your online presence. These include:

  • Advertise your products/services on a variety of different platforms or through online retailers.

  • Present a webinar or webinar series to educate your audience on a specific topic or launch a new product or service, using a service like WebinarCare to determine the best webinar software and platforms for your business.

  • Build up a social media following across multiple platforms (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube) using tools like Hootsuite or Planoly.

  • Host a podcast that is relevant to your brand/industry.

  • Set up and maintain a compelling website.

From the above list, your website is perhaps the most crucial element of your online presence - as this is the vehicle through which you can drive sales and introduce your brand to a global audience as opposed to being limited by location. However, it's estimated that every day slightly more than 547200 new websites are created globally, meaning it's easy for your website to fall into some forgotten content of the internet.

Thankfully, there are many ways in which you can combat this and focus on developing a website that will help you stand out from the crowd as opposed to blending in. One way in which you can do this is by adding a blog to your site. Not sure about blogging? Consider these three compelling reasons for why it might be a great next move!

  1. A blog boosts your credibility. When you are encouraging customers to make a purchase, trust is essential. This means that you need to find a way to position yourself as an expert within your field - i.e., someone who knows what they are talking about. Running a blog and focusing on curating content relevant to your brand or industry will allow you to do just that. You can also write blogs that discuss specific products you offer, alongside detailing their benefits and various uses, to increase the chances of making a sale. And. if you sell products or services to other companies, a robust B2B content marketing strategy combined with a blog can be a powerful combination.

  2. A blog boosts your visibility. As mentioned previously, thousands upon thousands of websites are launched every day - making it easy for certain websites to receive little to no traffic whatsoever. Thankfully, one way in which you can tackle this issue is by using SEO to your advantage. SEO, or search engine optimization, is a process wherein you use certain keywords or phrases across your website, which will help your website appear more frequently in online searches. 3. A blog improves your relationship with your customers. Adding a blog to your website can help your company appear more relatable, as it feels somewhat less formal than the rest of your site. This means it could help you build better relationships with your customers, especially if you add a comment section at the end of each blog asking for their opinion on specific topics. This relationship will only strengthen as you continue to provide them with content you know they will find interesting or otherwise engaging.
